The 100,000-strong expatriate community is eagerly anticipating the forthcoming arrival of the Maybank Malaysian Open to Saujana Golf and Country Club, this February 8th-11th.
Editor of Malaysia’s biggest expatriate publication ‘Expatriate Lifestyle’, which also happens to be the ‘Official Lifestyle Publication’ of the Malaysian Open, Matthew Bellotti, explains “Golf is hugely popular with expatriates, who are in many of the countries most senior positions. They rank among the captains of industry, CEOs, MDs, and business leaders. And we all know how much time senior businessmen spend on the links!
“That’s why we’re running a comprehensive guide for expatriates who enjoy playing golf in our February issue. We’ll be profiling the best courses, where to get equipment and the various challenges of playing in Malaysia, from the tropical heat of the jungle, to the cooler climbs of the Highlands.
“We’ve also been thrilled by the response to our competition giving away tickets for the MMO to our loyal readers. Already we’ve had many times more enquiries than we have tickets to give away, which hints at plenty of expatriates being interested in seeing the likes of Lee Westwood, Darren Clarke and Michael Campbell on their doorstep.”
The appearance of Campbell and Ryder Cup heroes Clarke and Westwood, record prize purse and numerous drives to boost attendance, should see record numbers flock to Saujana to revel in the atmosphere of a genuine world-class sporting competition.
Bellotti is just one expatriate ready for action, “It’s a real privilege to have been invited to become the Maybank Malaysian Open’s Official Lifestyle Publication. Already you can see with the quality of the field and the work that has gone into organising things that this tournament is going to be fantastic for players, fans and sponsors alike. I can’t wait for it all to get underway.” |
